Bilquis Edhi laid to a final resting place at Mewa Shah Graveyard

KARACHI: Bilquis Edhi, a well-known social worker who died suddenly on Friday, was buried in Karachi's Mewa Shah graveyard.

The New Memon Masjid in Karachi near Boulton Market was the site of her funeral services after Zuhr prayers.

Abdul Sattar Edhi's wife, Bilquis Edhi, was a well-known social worker and philanthropist. On Friday, she passed away in a Karachi private hospital.

Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, his cabinet members, Jamaat Islami's Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman and other political and social workers were among those who attended her funeral prayers in large numbers.

The government of Sindh has declared a "day of mourning" in honour of Bilquis Edhi, who died tragically last week.

Abdul Sattar Edhi, along with Bilquis Edhi's husband, had worked tirelessly to establish the Edhi Foundation as Pakistan's largest non-profit organization. After graduating from Edhi's nursing school at the age of 16, she went on to work as a nurse in Karachi.
