YDA Sindh demands action over alleged exploitation of patient at JPMC Karachi

KARACHI: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Sindh has strongly condemned a deeply disturbing incident at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where a male patient was reportedly shifted without authorization to a private hospital for surgery, and Rs. 250,000 was transferred from his personal bank account to a doctor’s account.

YDA Sindh has termed the incident as a violation of ethical medical practice and a betrayal of public trust, emphasizing that JPMC is a public institution meant to serve the underprivileged.

YDA urges immediate intervention by health authorities

In an official statement, YDA Sindh has called upon:

  • Chief Minister Sindh
  • Health Minister Sindh
  • Health Secretary
  • CEO Sindh Healthcare Commission
  • Executive Director JPMC

to urgently investigate the incident and take necessary action. The association is demanding the formation of an impartial inquiry committee to probe the matter, identify those involved, and ensure justice is served.

“This is not just about one patient — this is about protecting the sanctity of public healthcare. If such incidents are ignored, they may become a norm. We will not let that happen,” said a senior representative of YDA Sindh.
