Court sentences quack to three years imprisonment, Rs 30,000 fine
KARACHI: In a major victory for healthcare law enforcement, the Xth Judicial Magistrate of Hyderabad has sentenced Gul Ji, a quack, to three years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 30,000 for running an unauthorized medical clinic in Hyderabad. The accused had been providing fake medical services under the guise of a non-governmental organization (NGO), misleading the public and putting lives at risk with unlawful medical practices.
The raid and evidence of quackery
The breakthrough in the case came on 4th August, 2025, when officials from the Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) conducted a raid at the clinic, named HRJDO First Aid Clinic, located at Behan Mori, SITE Area, Hyderabad. During the raid, allopathic medicines were found, which provided strong evidence of quackery. These medicines, meant for professional use, were being dispensed illegally, further corroborating the charges of malpractice.

The authorities swiftly took action, and the FIR No. 122/2025 was filed against the accused under several sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including sections 419, 420, 170, 269, and 270. These charges included fraudulent impersonation, fraud, and public health endangerment.
Court ruling and sentencing
After a thorough investigation and presentation of the seized medicines as evidence, the court in Hyderabad found sufficient grounds to convict the accused. The Xth Judicial Magistrate pronounced a sentence of three years’ imprisonment along with a monetary fine of Rs. 30,000, in recognition of the gravity of the crimes committed. The court also bound the accused to submit an affidavit, assuring that he would not engage in any further illegal medical practice.
