KARACHI: The College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) has issued an urgent notification warning doctors, dentists, trainees, and the public about fraudulent calls, SMS, and WhatsApp messages impersonating CPSP officials or courier companies.

According to CPSP, scammers are attempting to trick individuals into clicking malicious links, sharing sensitive details like OTPs, PINs, or card numbers, or making unauthorized payments.

Official notification issued by CPSP warning against fraudulent calls, SMS, and WhatsApp messages, urging the public to protect sensitive information.

The council clarified that CPSP never requests such information through calls or messages. It strongly advised recipients of suspicious communication to:

  • Avoid clicking any suspicious links sent via SMS or WhatsApp.
  • Do not share OTPs, PINs, or card details with anyone over the phone.
  • Refrain from making payments based on unsolicited calls or messages.
  • Report any suspicious communication immediately to law enforcement authorities.

Prof. Irshad Waheed, Secretary of CPSP, emphasized that this notification has been issued to protect healthcare professionals and the general public from financial and data theft. The advisory has been officially circulated to the CPSP Council, published on the CPSP website, and shared with all relevant stakeholders to raise awareness.

Cybersecurity experts note that scam attempts targeting doctors, dentists, and healthcare institutions are on the rise, as attackers exploit their professional commitments and time sensitivity. This warning underlines the need for greater digital security awareness across the medical community.

CPSP’s proactive stance reflects its commitment to protecting not only its members but also the integrity of Pakistan’s healthcare training and examination ecosystem.
