Pechuho allocates eight ambulances to PPHI Sindh Health Facilities

KARACHI: The Minister for Health and Population Welfare, Sindh, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, distributed eight ambulances to health facilities operating under the Sindh People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative’s (PPHI) management in a ceremony held recently at the PPHI Sindh Head Office in Karachi.

Dr Pechuho gave the keys to the medical officers and drivers of the respective health facilities. The ambulances will serve three main objectives; free of cost mobility of pregnant women for delivery, mobility of severely malnourished children, and tend to road accident emergencies.

Dr Azra Pechuho applauding the efforts of the PPHI Sindh and said, “The Department of Health acknowledges the PPHI’s commitment towards improving health indicators in Sindh. We are establishing a well-integrated strategy to work together and make basic health facilities easily accessible to the underprivileged communities in Sindh.”

She further added that the Sindh Health Department wants to develop a seamless referral process, and these ambulances will play a vital role in that capacity.

Chief Executive Officer, PPHI Sindh, Abdul Wahab Soomro said, “The PPHI’s immediate focus is on reducing delayed patient mobility and transfers to and from health facilities which usually costs us lives. We have mobilized additional resources to ensure that medical care is effectively accessible to everyone in need.”

The PPHI Sindh has distributed 189 ambulances to various healthcare facilities. The eight additional ambulances have been distributed in several health facilities of Tharparkar, Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Sanghar, and Jacobabad, bringing the total count to 197.
