Karachi to host regional pre-conference hair restoration workshop
KARACHI: The City of Karachi is set to host a two-day regional pre-conference workshop on hair restoration during the last week of November, the Hair Restoration Society of Pakistan (HRSP) confirmed. The decision follows the successful completion of a similar two-day event in Islamabad.
Part of global ISHRS conference preparations
This workshop is part of a series of regional events leading up to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) International Conference, which will take place in Islamabad in February 2026. Similar pre-conference workshops have already been organized in other regions of Pakistan, making Karachi’s event a significant milestone in preparations.
Key leadership and committees
The Organizing Committee of the Karachi workshop will be chaired by Dr. Hanif Saeed, a founding member of HRSP, with Dr. Zulfiqar Tunio serving as Chairman of the Scientific Committee. The committee responsible for paper presentations, hands-on sessions, and live demonstrations will include Prof. Dr. Shahab Baig, Dr. Tahir Sheikh, Dr. Manzoor Anwar, and Dr. Iqbal, who will support the chairman.
The Scientific Committee is actively managing the academic aspects of the workshop under the supervision of Dr. Mrs. Uzma Irfan, who is coordinating closely with Dr. Tunio and Dr. Hanif Saeed to ensure seamless execution.
Focus on research and practical solutions
According to the organizers, the workshop will highlight the latest scientific research, innovations, and practical solutions for hair loss prevention and restoration, providing maximum benefit to both the medical community and the public.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Hanif Saeed described the upcoming ISHRS International Conference in Islamabad as a “great honor for Pakistan.” He noted that while the prestigious conference has been hosted by other Asian countries in the past, this will be the first time Pakistan serves as host, thanks to the efforts of ISHRS conference organizer Dr. Rana Irfan.
Strengthening professional standards
Dr. Saeed emphasized that the event will feature leading hair restoration experts from around the world, sharing the latest techniques in hair transplantation and restoration treatments. He added that the workshop and conference would be especially valuable for young doctors entering the field, helping raise professional standards and counter the rise of unqualified practitioners.
“This event will strengthen public trust in professionally trained doctors and serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, research advancement, and economic growth through the promotion of medical tourism,” he said.
Publicity and international standards
Special promotional campaigns, including posters and advance boards, have already been designed to maximize visibility. Dr. Saeed expressed his commitment to ensuring the Karachi workshop is organized to international standards, offering participants world-class facilities and learning opportunities.
Concluding his remarks, he stated:
“This is not just a conference — it is a golden opportunity for Pakistan to showcase its capabilities on a global platform. It will be remembered as a historic landmark for the country’s hair restoration field, with positive effects felt for years to come.”
The final list of committee members, venue, and other event details will be announced after the committee’s first meeting.
