Sindh Health Dept declares emergency to cater to heatwave

KARACHI: Sindh Health Department has decided to establish a control room to monitor the heatwave situation and set up special wards for managing heat-stroke. 

The Sindh Department of Health had declared an emergency and issued an advisory on the same day to all Health facilities of Sindh Province. 

Emergency Imposed because of Heath Wave in Pakistan

In order to reduce the effects of this on the people of Sindh, the Health Department has outlined a procedure that will be followed throughout the province, and a Control Room has been established at Provincial Level.  
 
A special ward for managing heat-stroke cases in an emergency with the availability of air conditioning, ice, backup electric supply, and water supply. During the heatwave emergency, the leaves and absences are not permitted for medics and paramedics.  

Necessary Measures taken by Sindh Health Department to tackle Heatwave 


Deployment of healthcare staff will commence as needed to the regions most affected. There will be an uninterrupted supply of heatwave treatment supplies such as I.V Fluids, ORS, Cannulas, and the like.  


Mass awareness campaigns by Sindh Health Department are underway to ensure that the people know as best as possible about the heatwave and ways to prevent its negative effects.   


Daily reporting and routine ambulance service for emergencies will also be available during the heatwave.  
 
Earlier, Pakistan Meteorological Department issued a Press Release on May 6th, 2022, regarding severe Heat Wave conditions in upper and central Sindh (8th to May 14th, 2022). 
In Sindh, the heatwave will be impacting Jamshoro, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Sanghar, Khairpur, Naushero Feroze, Dadu, Sukkur, Larkana, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Mirpurkhas, and Umerkot.
