Karachi: The shifting of women from Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) to private sector hospitals is on the peak in late night hour for commission, it was recently learned.

An official of Department Gynecology JPMC told that some agents of private sector hospitals with nexus of few employees of department    allegedly involved in shifting the women in private hospitals for commission. This malpractice is on the raise in late night hour due to poor check and balance system.

The agents of various private sector hospitals generally reach outside the GynecologyDepartment, JPMC, 9:00pm every day and remain in institution till morning. The agents with nexus of employees of department have allegedly involved in shifting the women with pregnancy emergency requirements in nearby private hospitals for sake of commission.

Official said agents convince the family member or attendants of patients that private hospitals have better health facilities as compared with JPMC. The owners of private hospitals pay heavy commission to these agents and their aides. The JPMC management was unable to control these malpractices due to poor check and balance system in institution in night hours.

Focal Person, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, Dr Jawaid Akhter Jamali, when contacted, said administration has not received any complain about shifting the women for commission in private hospitals. He said strict action will be taken against employees if anyone found involve in such practices.
