KARACHI: The Sindh government had nominated a new police head for Karachi in an effort to rein in escalating street crime activity in the city.

As per the sources, According to a provincial government notification, Ghulam Nabi Memon had been appointed as the Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Karachi, succeeding Imran Yaqoob Minhas as the city's police chief.

Ghulam Nabi Memon served as AIG Karachi in 2019 and implemented numerous improvements in the police department, in contrast to his now-former predecessor, who failed to advance the structural reforms.

Nevertheless, escalating street crime had been a critical issue that contributed to Imran Yaqoob Minhas's removal as AIG Karachi. It's worth noting here that 11 individuals had been slain in the city in the last ten days while resisting mugging attempts.
