Dr Noshad Sheikh to become new President of PMDC

ISLAMABAD: During a news conference on September 7, the Health Minister, Mr Abdul Qadir Patel, announced the selection of Prof. Dr Noshad A. Sheikh as President of the PMDC.


Prof. Dr Noshad A. Shaikh is a distinguished surgeon. He formerly served as Sindh's secretary of health and is currently the vice-chancellor of Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences in Jamshoro.

Dr Noshad has been appointed as President of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The press conference also disclosed that the MDCAT examinations for 2022 will be postponed due to the devastating effects of flooding in Sindh and Balochistan's interior.

In addition, Mr Patel added that the admission requirements for MBBS students had been raised to 55%, while BDS students must now achieve 45% to obtain a seat.
