Emergency declared at all public hospitals in Karachi for Muharram-ul-Haram

Karachi: Emergency has been declared at all public sector hospitals across the city and province by the Health Department Sindh and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). The authorities have ordered complete availability of doctors, paramedic staff and medicines.

The Director Health Karachi has declared emergency in 18 town health offices of city till 12th Muharram and also established medical camps for the purpose.

The Health Department has directed all the Heads and Medical Superintendents of public hospitals to alert doctors, paramedical and nursing staffs, and ambulance service and blood banks have been ordered to remain open and functional 24 hours a day for emergencies.

In the lights of these instructions, medical superintendents canceled the leaves of employees.

All hospitals administration was being directed to provide best available treatment to mourners and participations of Muharram Al-Haram processions.

Meanwhile, Director Health Karachi Dr Zafar Ejaz said emergency has been declared in all the towns of city and all health units will remain operational till 12th Muharram.

He further stated that a 24 hour control room has also established in the office of Director Health Karachi to monitor the activities of town health offices and control room.

Joint Executive Director, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC), Dr Seemin Jamali has cancelled the leaves of employees and directed them to ensure their presence in their respective departments. She said all the operation theaters and departments will be remained functional on 10th Muharram.

She said that JPMC is the largest emergency catering hospital in Karachi and has the capacity to deal with 150 emergency patients, apart from which up to 500 patients can be provided emergency first aid treatment in case of accidents.
