ISLAMABAD: Prof Dr. Samina Malik, Rector of the International Islamic University (IIU), has ordered the provision of high-priority medical facilities to the university students.

Accompanied by Acting President Prof. Dr. Abdul Raheman, the Rector visited the newly-constructed medical centre of the university to assess its operationalization, utilization of new facilities, and overall performance.

The new medical centre is part of the infrastructural reforms initiated by Dr Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, the President of IIU, in accordance with the university's new strategic plan.

During the visit, Dr Wakeel Ahmed, in charge of the medical centre, briefed the Rector on the services offered in the new building, including available facilities, labs, bed capacity, and daily patient visits. Other relevant officers were also present during the briefing.

Dr. Wakeel said the centre comprises 16 beds, with four dedicated to emergency services. He informed that requests for X-ray machines, ECG equipment, and other radiology-related gadgets have been submitted for the centre.

Prof Dr Samina Malik said prioritizing the facilitation of students should be the central objective. She directed the immediate installation of a complaint box to address student issues, which will be monitored by her office. She also mentioned plans for a separate, well-equipped medical facility for the female campus as part of the university's future initiatives.

The IIU Rector also expressed interest in the psychological counseling centre, examined the availability of medicines, and reviewed laboratory charges and services. She stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness within the facility and ensuring a hygienic environment in the medical centre.
