Protest at JPMC - OPD prolonged for three consecutive days

KARACHI- The visiting patients at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) have continued to suffer on third day due to protest demonstration of employees and boycotts of OPDs in Sindh's largest tertiary-care hospital.

The protesters have refused to call off their protest despite request of JPMC administration and secretary health. The employees vowed to continue boycott of outpatient department, Laboratory, X-ray and other services until the acceptance of their genuine demands.

The paramedical staff and nurses under the banner of Jinnah Employees Action Committee has started their protest demonstration and boycotted the OPDs services in 9:00am and continued till 11:00am. All the OPDs, Laboratory, X-rays, Ultrasound and other medical services have remained suspend for two hours.

The employees reaffirmed their demands of health & deputation allowance, regularization of neurosurgery employees and issuance of their pay-slips. They said 2,000 employees of hospital are deprived from health and deputation allowances and provincial authorities could not pay head on their genuine demanded.

Later, Jinnah Employees Action Committee delegation led by Gul Saeed Khan, Abdul Wahid, Haq Nawaz Sial, Ameer Ali, Ejaz Abbas, Asad Malik and Ismail Jaskani met with Secretary Health Sindh Iftikhar Shalwani at Sindh Secretariat.

The delegation presented their demands to secretary health like deputation & health allowance, regularization of neurosurgery of employees and timely payment of their salaries. The secretary health told the delegation that they will discuss all issues with secretary establishment in Islamabad and other relevant officers.

However, the members of Jinnah Employees Action Committee have decided to continue their protest and boycott of OPDs till the acceptance and enforcement of their demands.

The accident and emergency department and Intensive Care Units of healthcare  remained functional during the protest of employees.
