YDA welcomes Dr Saddam Saleh’s appointment as director of procurement at JPMC Karachi

KARACHI: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) has welcomed the appointment of Dr Saddam Saleh as the Assistant Director of Procurement at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), a decision hailed as a turning point for accountability and youth-driven reform in Pakistan’s public healthcare sector.

Announced by the Secretary Health and the Director of JPMC, this appointment reflects a strategic move toward improving institutional transparency and restoring public trust in procurement systems that have long suffered from allegations of mismanagement and unethical practices.

Dr Saddam Saleh, widely respected for his integrity, professionalism, and progressive mindset, steps into this critical role with a mandate to clean up past irregularities and lead with transparency. His leadership represents a generational shift that prioritizes fiscal responsibility, efficient service delivery, and ethical governance.

“This is a fresh start for JPMC’s procurement department,” said a YDA spokesperson. “We urge all stakeholders to support Dr Saleh and avoid burdening his leadership with the baggage of previous administrations.”

YDA emphasized that accountability must not turn into scapegoating, and called on all government departments, staff, and medical professionals to work collaboratively in this new chapter for JPMC.

The association believes that young, qualified leadership like Dr Saleh’s is key to implementing sustainable reforms and safeguarding public health institutions from systemic failures.
