Rain spell claims eight lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

KPK: The prolong rain spell, which began on Thursday evening, has resulted in the loss of at least eight lives across various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Lower Dir, Batkhela, and Bajaur.

Among the victims are five children, a woman, and two men, who tragically lost their lives due to roof collapses caused by the heavy rainfall.

In the Kandao Mamond area, three children met an untimely demise when their house's roof caved in under the relentless rain. Rescue 1122 personnel swiftly responded to the scene, managing to extract their bodies from the rubble.

Further south, in Lower Dir district's Molay Khat area, a devastating landslide claimed the lives of three family members—a husband, wife, and daughter. Despite arduous rescue efforts enduring heavy rainfall, only one family member survived, currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Zahid (25 years), his 23-year-old wife, and their 5-year-old daughter Harira. Another child, Tafla Arham, sustained injuries in the incident.

Tragedy struck yet again in Batkhela, at the village of Aladand Dehrai, where a mother and her daughter succumbed to the collapse of their house's roof. Noor Rehman, his spouse, and their three daughters found themselves trapped under the debris, resulting in the loss of two lives. Remaining family members are currently hospitalized.

Authorities, including Rescue 1122 KP, have been actively responding to incidents and providing assistance amid the challenging weather conditions.
