Polio campaign in Karachi to cover 73000 children

KARACHI - Deputy Project Manager, Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) Sindh Dr Dur e Naaz Jamal recently announced that; polio campaign would begin in nine high-risk union councils of Karachi, where over 73,000 children would be injected with inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV). 

She said EPI administration has decided to establish medical camps in high-risk UCs of city to vaccinate children using the new method instead of door to door campaign.
She said over 73,000 children would be injected with inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) at the camps. She said decision has been taken in the light of expert’s opinion.  She said camps would be established in the high-risk UCs, where parents can bring their children to these camps with help from the eminent people of the localities.  She said 40 vaccination camps are expected to be established in the nine union councils.

She stated; Medical practitioners would also provide consultation and other medical facilities including checkups to the visiting people, besides vaccination of children at the camps.
