Rawalpindi police bust illegal organ transplant racket, rescue victim
RAWALPINDI: In a major breakthrough against human organ trafficking, Rawalpindi police exposed an illegal organ transplant racket operating in the city. Acting swiftly on an emergency call received via helpline 15, police raided a house and arrested four suspects involved in illegal kidney transplants.
During the raid, police recovered surgical instruments used in unlawful transplant procedures, confirming that the gang was engaged in selling kidneys of both Pakistani and foreign nationals.
Victim rescued from illegal surgery
The operation was uncovered after police responded to a distress call reporting screams from a house. Upon entering the premises, officers discovered a man tied to a stretcher. He was rescued immediately.
In his statement, the victim revealed that he had been lured with a fake job offer, drugged, and subjected to multiple medical tests. Investigations later confirmed that the tests were carried out to determine the viability of removing and selling his kidney.
Police action prevents life-threatening surgery
Thanks to the timely intervention of Rawalpindi police, the victim was saved from a potentially fatal transplant. The incident has raised fresh concerns about illegal human organ trade in Pakistan, where vulnerable individuals are often targeted through deception and coercion.
