Nowshera Medical College to admit 100 students

PESHAWAR- Nowshera Medical College (NMC) will start admitting students from the next academic session as its affiliated teaching hospital will become functional by July.

According to sources, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has declared both - the under-construction 500-bed district headquarters hospital and the old 125-bed district headquarters hospital - as teaching hospitals for NMC.

Staff for the college has been hired on ad hoc basis and 100 students would be admitted annually from next academic session (November-December).

According to the NMC’s project director, Dr Mohammad Tahir, equipment for college and its teaching hospital would be procured within three months and thereafter the new hospital would be opened for patients.

The hospital will have all the facilities of medicines, surgery, cardiology, gynecology, ENT, eye, orthopedic and specialties such as neurology and plastic surgery, he added.

Dr Tahir said that NMC would establish liaison with the Royal College of Ireland soon after being accorded approval by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.
