KARACHI- Declaring emergency in all public sector hospitals to cope with heavy rush of heatstroke patients, Sindh Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said that round-the-clock availability of medical staff have been ensured at the health facilities.

Moreover, all the medicines required for heatstroke patients have been provided to all the government-run-hospitals, he added.

He was talking to media persons during his visit to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) where a maximum number of heatstroke patients were brought from different parts of the city and admitted for treatment.
Expressing his grief and sorrow over unprecedented loss of lives, the minister said that though the major cause of the tragedy was punishing heatwave, the unscheduled loadshedding of longer duration aggravated the situation.

Sindh government, he added, was fully aware of its responsibility and all required medicines have been supplied to the hospitals in order to save life of heatstroke patients.

He advised the people to avoid unnecessary movement in scorching heat, stay indoors and avoid exposure to sun rays.
